Rev. Ellis
Allen
Sister Marion
Allen has been very gracious to share some information on Bro.
Allen that we will share with you below.
"Ellis entered
the ministry in January, 1949. He was in the ministry 48
years. He was an evangelist for 27 years and pastored the
rest of those years. We pastored seven churches, and he
taught prophecy in evangelistic work also. He was known
for his knowledge of the Bible and the quoting of the Bible.
He preached right up to the weekend before he entered the
hospital in April, 1996. He died December 31, 1996."
Sister Allen
didn't mention it in her letter, but she is a very gifted singer
and musician to complement Bro. Allen's ministry as well as
teaching music.
She didn't
recall the exact dates they pastored at East Jenkins, but it was
probably in the late 40's. She added that he was a "camp
meeting preacher."
